Wiping up the mess

After dinner tonight, as Elijah was returning his milk cup to the refrigerator, he spilled a bit of milk. He promptly and very seriously said, "spill" and grabbed the dish towel to wipe up the mess. It seemed so natural, like this was an everyday event for him....we've never seen him do this before. This kid amazes me!!! He's not even 1 1/2 yet, he just seems to "get" things so well (either that or he's seen me spill anything and everything on the floor and he was just doing what he has watched me do so many times). Either way, it was just about the cutest thing I've seen all week.

To laugh or not to laugh

Okay, now I know it is wrong to laugh when my kid is doing something he shouldn't be, but sometimes it is so hard not to, much to my husband's dismay. Case in point, he was eating applesauce the other day and started laughing about something. He quickly realized that if he laughs while eating applesauce he can shoot it a few feet from his mouth....hilarious! So, with every subsequent bite, he would start laughing....it's so natural to laugh when he laughs, that now I've created a habit...not only can he make applesauce hit the wall, but he can also make mommy laugh.

However, I refuse to encourage poor manners, so...I will suck it up, contain myself, hold in my giggles, and walk away if I have to....all the while cracking up on the inside, regardless of how ridiculously cute it all is.

Butter Making

I just made butter! I love learning new tricks and experimenting in the kitchen. Creating food is my favorite thing to do on a lazy day or after a long hard day. I had an abundance of heavy cream and decided to try my hand at making butter. It took a long time, I think because it was ultra-pasteurized, but it was completely worth it.
