While daddy's away...
....mommy and baby will play! Hank is out of town today and we (I) decided to have a picnic with my little man. It was our first picnic date ever! Thanks Vicky for inspiring us to do this, we had so much fun!

After eating most of his food, he thought it would be a good idea to sit on his plate....

So, I've decided that a picnic with a 10 month old would be much easier with two people....I didn't get to eat too much of my lunch, but it was fun watching Elijah and snapping pictures.

Elijah's first zoo trip

I'm so behind on blogging.....
It's been so long, I'm not even sure where to begin....Elijah is almost eight months old and has two teeth!!! He is such a happy boy, and loves to stand and walk. He really has no desire for crawling (maybe that's because when he does, he moves backwards instead of forward). His relationship with kitty kitty is growing, they really seem to be quite fond of one another. I am seriously amazed at how well she tolerates him.
Hank and I are doing well. He is well into track season and really enjoying it, though it takes up a lot of his time. We are working on getting our garden ready for planting, Hank is getting raised beds built, and I'm sorting through seeds and strategically planning planting locations.
That's all for now...hopefully more to come soon!

Huff weight loss challenge
Between left over baby weight, and a lot less time than we're used to...Hank and I have realized that we need to get back into shape. So....we will be using some healthy competition to make it happen. We both want to lose about five percent of our current weight, so the first one to do that wins! Basically, we are done with dessert for a while, we've started running again, and we are watching our portion size. I'll keep the blog updated on our progress.
Elijah is exempt from this contest as he is gaining weight exponentially, weighing at almost seventeen pounds at five months.....such a cute little butterball!

Elijah meets rice cereal
So, I'm pretty sure he had about a teaspoon of rice cereal, but he certainly enjoyed it! I'm really looking forward to making his baby food soon!!!

CHRISTMAS
So, I'm only about a month late in posting this...getting better! Christmas was wonderful this year. Hank and I hosted my mom and Troy and our friends David and Amber for Christmas Eve dinner. We had a great visit with the grandparents while they were here, it was Grandpa Grimes' first time meeting Elijah and they sure did seem to like one another. While they were here it was Grandpa's job to put Elijah to sleep, mostly because Elijah fell asleep so quickly every time he picked him up.
Elijah had a lot of fun with Grandma Grimes, he thought she was hilarious....
Thanks Grandma and Grandpa Grimes for spending Christmas with us this year, we loved having you!

Sleep training
We are using the Ferber method to try and teach Elijah to fall asleep on his own. The nights have been great!!! He goes down anywhere between 6 and 7pm and only wakes up once or twice to eat until about 6 or 7am.
Getting Elijah to nap has been a whole different story. He goes down alright (generally) but he wakes up right around thirty minutes and cries until we come and get him. I've tried and I have yet to win this battle. Hopefully the naps get easier, he is horribly cranky without a good one.

Happy crib time
He loves his crib....sorry about the mobile in the video. I think Elijah's cuteness overtakes the annoying cinematography.

Yay for nice heads, boo for colic.
I'm sure I've lost readers considering that I post so infrequently, but oh well, for the one or two of you out there, here is an update for you!October and November were hard months for the Huff family. Hank and I got swine flu and Elijah's colic really flared up. He is still quite colicky, which gives him a little more control of the household than I would like, but it won't last forever. Okay so that was the not so happy news....here's the good stuff!
Elijah had his two month check up (over a month ago) and he is doing really well, in the 50th percentile for both height and weight. All of his doctors and nurses concur that he has a very nicely shaped head, seems like an odd compliment to
He is cooing and laughing and smiling more than any other three month old I know.
Lately, in all his cuteness, he smiles at himself in the mirror and then gets shy and buries his head into my shoulder. So far his personality seems to be a pretty good mixture of both of us. He is very social, but also has some shyness going on there too. He's pretty sleepy when he first wakes up and that's when we have our best cuddles (that's from me). However, he also wakes up smiling and laughing (that he gets from Hank).
Overall, he's a joyful, happy baby....except when he is inconsolably screaming....
The last three months have been the hardest, most rewarding, difficult, and happiest months of my life
(and I haven't asked Hank, but I'm sure he feels the same).

Loving the grandparents

Time is flying!!

Elijah is already five weeks old!!! I can't believe he's been around that long. I also can't believe I haven't slept more than three hours at a time for the last five weeks. It's been a rough few weeks for Hank and I, but we are so enjoying our little boy. He still looks just like his daddy, he smiles a lot and cries a lot too, but we're hoping he grows out of the crying fits pretty soon.
The school year is going pretty well for Hank, I think he's finally getting into the swing of things. I am learning how to live life in two hour chunks, and loving being a stay at home mommy!
Here are some updated pictures of our little cutie pie!
